The marriage reception of Parv Chaudhary, eldest son of Sanchi MLA Dr. Prabhu Ram Chaudhary, turned into a state-wide spectacle in Raisen, Madhya Pradesh. Held at the Dussehra ground, the event featured a 3,00,000-square-foot tent and hosted over 30,000 guests, effectively transforming the area into a temporary mini township.
While the wedding itself was a private affair in Bhopal, the reception ensured that no member of the Chaudhary family’s extended network was left uninvited. Eight acres of the public ground were barricaded and carpeted, with red carpets and security cordons in place, leading to traffic diversions that drew both awe and frustration from local residents.
The event’s scale was highlighted by the deployment of 1,000 cooks, who prepared an elaborate spread of 25 cuisines, ranging from traditional Indian to international dishes, serving over 30,000 plates. Caterers and event managers described the arrangements as a “culinary campaign” designed to impress guests from across the state.

High-profile political figures attended the reception, including Union Ministers Shivraj Singh Chouhan and Jyotiraditya Scindia, Deputy Chief Minister Jagdish Devda, and other senior leaders, making the event as much a political roll call as a family celebration. Special security measures and PWD barricades ensured the safety and management of the large crowd.
Entertainment was provided by renowned artists from Rajasthan, along with folk dancers and traditional music, adding a cultural dimension to the grand affair. Observers noted that the extravagance likely cost crores of rupees, a sum comparable to significant local development projects, though no official confirmation was given.
The reception’s grandeur starkly contrasts with other recent political weddings in Madhya Pradesh, such as the simple mass wedding of Chief Minister Mohan Yadav’s son, Abhimanyu. In the state, weddings are increasingly being used as statements of status and influence, with celebrations ranging from modest ceremonies to extravagant showcases like the Chaudhary event.
