Arjun Tendulkar, son of Indian cricket legend Sachin Tendulkar, is gearing up for a fresh start with the Lucknow Super Giants (LSG) in the 2026 Indian Premier League (IPL) season. The left-arm all-rounder spent five years with the Mumbai Indians (MI) from 2021 to 2025 but featured in just five matches during that period, prompting his move to Lucknow in search of more opportunities.
In a recent interview on Shubhankar Mishra’s podcast, Tendulkar reflected on his stint with MI and the challenges of limited game time. “Who doesn’t feel that? No one wants to sit on the bench. But we want to work hard and perform when we get a chance,” he said, acknowledging the frustration of being on the sidelines while emphasizing his commitment to giving his best whenever called upon.
Tendulkar also shared his views on the controversial IPL “Impact Player” rule, which has drawn criticism from several Indian internationals. “Pick 11 and play. Because in international T20s, and in any other league, there is no Impact Player. So, I am personally against the Impact Player rule,” he remarked, highlighting his preference for traditional playing formats.

The Lucknow squad boasts a strong top order, while its middle and lower-middle order have occasionally appeared fragile. Tendulkar is not expected to be an immediate starter, but he could get opportunities at number six, seven, or eight. Regardless of the position, he said he is prepared to contribute wherever needed. “Our middle order is also very powerful. T20 is a game where anyone can beat anyone, so I think we have a bright chance to do well in this tournament,” he added.
The 2026 season marks an important phase for the young all-rounder as he seeks to establish himself in one of the IPL’s rising franchises. Tendulkar’s focus on hard work, adaptability, and team performance underscores his determination to make the most of this new opportunity after limited chances with Mumbai Indians. With the tournament around the corner, all eyes will be on Tendulkar to see whether he can leverage his potential and contribute to Lucknow Super Giants’ quest for IPL success.
