A fire broke out at a waste stockyard inside the Mumbai Naval Dockyard on Thursday, officials said, adding that the blaze was swiftly brought under control and no injuries were reported.
According to the Indian Navy, the fire erupted in an area where waste material was stored within the dockyard premises. Firefighting teams from the dockyard, assisted by local fire services, responded immediately and contained the blaze before it could spread to nearby installations.
Authorities said there was no damage to critical assets, ships, or operational facilities. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and an internal assessment has been initiated to determine how the incident occurred.

Officials also confirmed that all personnel in the vicinity were safe and that standard safety protocols were followed during the firefighting operation.
The Mumbai Fire Brigade said it received the alert in the afternoon and sent multiple fire engines to the spot as a precautionary measure, though the situation was already under control by the time they arrived.
Operations at the dockyard continued as normal after the incident, officials added.
