Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) leader and Bihar’s Leader of Opposition, Tejashwi Yadav, addressed the media today at the RJD office in Patna, marking the culmination of his extensive "Jan Vishwas Yatra." The statewide campaign, which concluded yesterday, saw Yadav traverse over 6,000 kilometers across all 38 districts of Bihar, engaging with more than 8,000 representatives over the past 11 days. The yatra, launched on February 20, aimed to rebuild public trust following the RJD’s ouster from power earlier this year.
Speaking to reporters, Yadav emphasized the yatra’s success in connecting with Bihar’s people, underscoring his commitment to their concerns ahead of the 2025 state assembly elections. “We’ve reached every corner of Bihar, listening to the people who are our true strength. This yatra was about assuring them that we stand by them, no matter the political shifts,” he said. The outreach comes after Chief Minister Nitish Kumar’s Janata Dal (United) realigned with the BJP-led NDA in January, ending the Mahagathbandhan coalition that included RJD.
Yadav highlighted the achievements of the previous RJD-led government, particularly its focus on job creation, claiming it sanctioned nearly 5 lakh jobs during its 17-month tenure. He contrasted this with the current NDA regime, accusing it of neglecting public welfare. The press conference followed a massive rally at Gandhi Maidan on March 1, attended by RJD supremo Lalu Prasad Yadav, Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, and CPI(M)’s Sitaram Yechury, signaling a united opposition front.
The yatra has reinvigorated RJD’s base, with enthusiastic crowds turning out across towns and villages. Political observers see it as a strategic move to consolidate support ahead of the Lok Sabha polls and the 2025 state elections, positioning Tejashwi as a formidable challenger to the ruling alliance.
