Travellers at Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj International Airport (CSMIA) can now enjoy snacks and tea at street prices, ending years of complaints about overpriced food. The first Udaan Yatri Café officially opened in Terminal 2, offering items like tea and bottled water for ₹10 and coffee or snacks for ₹20. The café was e-inaugurated by Union Minister of Civil Aviation Kinjarapu Rammohan Naidu. This move is part of a national initiative to make airport amenities more inclusive. Passengers can now enjoy affordable options without compromising on quality.
For years, travellers paid exorbitant rates for basic refreshments, often several times higher than outside the airport. Udaan Yatri Café breaks this trend by providing a menu similar to a local street stall rather than a luxury terminal eatery. Located between Gates 1 and 2 at Departures, it caters to passengers waiting to check in. The initiative aims to reduce the “airport tax” on food while maintaining hygiene standards. Affordable food is now accessible to budget-conscious flyers at one of the world’s busiest airports.
The café offers a variety of items, ensuring travellers can eat well without overspending. Tea and bottled water are priced at ₹10, while coffee, snacks, and desserts cost ₹20. This pricing addresses a longstanding gap in airport services, where even basic items carried heavy markups. Travellers can now purchase multiple items for the cost of a single luxury airport latte. The move is expected to transform the passenger experience at CSMIA significantly.

Quality and hygiene remain a key focus for Udaan Yatri Café. The “Udaan” branding reflects the government’s mission to make air travel accessible to ordinary citizens. By providing clean, affordable, and tasty options, the café balances cost with standards. The high-traffic Departures area ensures maximum reach for passengers arriving early for flights. Travellers now have access to convenient and budget-friendly refreshments while waiting to board.
As of February 20, the café is fully operational and ready to serve passengers. Premium international brands will continue for travellers seeking luxury dining, but Udaan Yatri Café ensures affordability for the majority. Families can now enjoy snacks and drinks without financial strain before flying. The initiative marks a new chapter in airport food services in Mumbai. It sets a precedent for making essential amenities accessible and fair for all passengers.
