Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK) Chief Coordinator and former AIADMK Minister KA Sengottaiyan made a bold assertion declaring that eight out of every ten people in Tamil Nadu are firmly supporting party founder and president, actor-turned-politician Vijay, signaling a potential seismic shift in the state's political landscape ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
Speaking to reporters in Gobichettipalayam, Erode district, Sengottaiyan emphasized Vijay's capability to serve the people effectively, citing internal surveys that reportedly show overwhelming backing for the TVK leader, and expressed confidence that the upcoming polls would deliver the change that the majority of Tamil Nadu residents are earnestly seeking through their collective will.
The Senior TVK functionary revealed an open alliance policy, stating that any political party willing to accept Vijay as the chief ministerial candidate would be welcomed into a pre-poll partnership, while clarifying that the final decision on candidate applications for the Assembly seats would rest solely with Vijay himself after careful evaluation.

Sengottaiyan positioned TVK as the only major force actively criticizing both the ruling DMK and the principal opposition AIADMK, pointing out a perceived lack of direct confrontation between the two Dravidian majors, and accused the DMK government of failing to fulfill numerous election promises, which he said has sparked widespread protests across the state.
He further predicted a significant influx of leaders and functionaries from rival parties into TVK ahead of the Pongal festival, remained non-committal on potential ties with Congress by advising observers to wait for official discussions led by Vijay, and began the day's events by paying floral tributes to freedom fighter Rani Velu Nachiyar on her birth anniversary at the local party office.
