Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu on Friday accused the previous YSR Congress Party (YSRCP) government of using chemically adulterated ghee in the preparation of Tirupati laddus, the consecrated sweets offered at the Tirumala Venkateswara Temple. Speaking at a village meeting in Kalugotla, Naidu alleged that the move was an attempt to undermine the prestige of Lord Venkateswara Swamy.
Naidu claimed that the ghee used in laddu preparation during the YSRCP regime contained chemicals “used to clean bathrooms,” raising serious concerns about food safety and religious sanctity. He stated that such acts could not be tolerated and vowed that his administration would ensure accountability for those involved.
The chief minister emphasized that his government would pursue strict investigations into the alleged adulteration, sparing no individual or entity connected to the case. Naidu said that protecting the sanctity of Tirupati’s prasadam (consecrated food) and restoring public trust were top priorities for his administration.

The allegations come amid heightened political tensions in Andhra Pradesh, with Naidu directly linking the issue to the YSRCP’s tenure. He highlighted the importance of maintaining transparency and safety in religious offerings, warning that any compromise could provoke public outrage.
While Naidu’s comments have sparked controversy, no independent verification of the ghee adulteration has been officially released. The state administration is expected to initiate further inspections and laboratory tests to ascertain the authenticity of the claims.
This development adds to the ongoing political discourse in Andhra Pradesh, where religious and cultural symbols often intersect with governance and party politics, drawing significant attention from both devotees and the media.
