The internal crisis within Bihar’s Rashtriya Janata Dal escalated dramatically on Wednesday as Lalu Prasad’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav publicly warned that the party’s strength could plummet from its current 25 assembly seats to a mere five if the prevailing “new RJD culture” persists. In a scathing social media outburst, he accused younger brother and former Deputy Chief Minister Tejashwi Prasad Yadav of orchestrating humiliation against him and their sister Rohini Acharya under the influence of disloyal advisors.
Posting on the official handle of his newly formed Janshakti Janata Dal, Tej Pratap declared that both he and Rohini—whom he reverentially called “Devi”—had been systematically sidelined and expelled from the party’s core. He asserted that the public would not forgive those attempting to destroy the Yadav family’s legacy, framing the conflict as a betrayal by modern-day “Jai Chands” within the RJD fold.
Highlighting the party’s electoral decline from 80 seats in 2015 and 75 in 2020 to a humiliating 25 in the recent 2025 polls, Tej Pratap attributed the collapse to the current leadership’s detachment from grassroots workers. The stinging criticism came amid chaotic scenes outside the RJD state headquarters in Patna, where agitated party workers burned effigies of Tejashwi’s close aides Sanjay Yadav and MLC Sunil Singh, holding them directly responsible for the devastating defeat.

Protesters demanded the removal of “outsiders” from decision-making roles and insisted that only leaders deeply rooted in Bihar’s soil should steer the RJD. The demonstrations echoed earlier outbursts by Rohini Acharya, who had publicly blamed Sanjay Yadav and another associate for mishandling campaign strategy and candidate selection.
With the Yadav family rift now fully exposed, the once-dominant RJD faces an unprecedented existential threat as loyalists splinter and public sympathy shifts toward Lalu Prasad’s estranged children. The deepening turmoil has cast serious doubt on the party’s ability to recover before the next electoral cycle.
