Karnataka Deputy Chief Minister D.K. Shivakumar on Tuesday firmly dismissed speculation over leadership instability in the state, stating that he wished Chief Minister Siddaramaiah to complete his full term in office. Speaking to reporters in Bengaluru, Shivakumar said there was “no confusion” within the Congress party and claimed that the uncertainty existed only in media narratives. He reiterated his goodwill by wishing the Chief Minister success and stability.
Referring to Siddaramaiah equalling the tenure record of former Chief Minister late D. Devaraj Urs, Shivakumar expressed admiration and support. He said he hoped Siddaramaiah would achieve even greater milestones and prayed for his good health so that he could continue serving the people of Karnataka. The Deputy CM’s remarks were seen as a strong public endorsement amid ongoing leadership discussions.
Shivakumar also addressed law-and-order concerns, announcing his visit to Ballari to assess the ground situation. Emphasising the need for peace across the state, he accused the BJP of growing restless and engaging in disruptive activities. His comments came against the backdrop of political clashes and rising tensions between rival party workers.

On allegations regarding ₹25 lakh compensation allegedly paid in cash to the family of deceased Congress worker Rajashekar, Shivakumar said he would personally speak to Minister Zameer Ahmed Khan. He further alleged that Union Minister H.D. Kumaraswamy had undue influence over central agencies, intensifying the political war of words between the ruling party and the opposition.
Meanwhile, Chief Minister Siddaramaiah acknowledged that his continuation in office ultimately depends on the Congress high command. Speaking in Mysuru, he said he remained confident of completing his tenure but respected the party’s decision-making process. Stressing his trust in the leadership, Siddaramaiah said his elevation as CM itself reflected the high command’s confidence in him, lending fresh significance to the ongoing leadership debate.
