Haryana Chief Minister Nayab Singh Saini has intensified his criticism of Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, accusing him of spreading a “false agenda” across the country after facing repeated electoral setbacks. Speaking through a detailed post on X on Friday, Saini charged that the “Congress prince,” frustrated by his inability to secure victories, was now attempting to mislead the public “first regarding the Constitution and now about the voter list.”
Saini’s remarks came in direct response to Gandhi’s statement on Thursday, where the Congress leader pointed out that the party lost the Haryana Assembly elections of October 2024 by a narrow total margin of 22,779 votes. Gandhi had argued that such a small difference separated victory from defeat in the state, suggesting the BJP benefited from questionable circumstances.
Breaking down the numbers, Saini noted that the BJP had actually faced narrow losses in seven key constituencies including Loharu, Adampur, Rohtak, Sadhaura, Panchkula, Fatehabad, and Thanesar with a total combined deficit of 12,592 votes. According to Saini, even if the BJP had secured just 22,000 additional votes across the state, it could have flipped at least ten seats, further increasing its already decisive majority. The 2024 elections saw the BJP retain power with 48 seats, while the Congress won 37, the INLD took two, and Independents secured three.

The Chief Minister accused Gandhi of “repeatedly insulting the people’s mandate” and advised him to focus instead on what he described as a “directionless, failed, and faction-ridden” Congress. He stressed that the BJP government in Haryana was committed to equitable development in every constituency, regardless of whether the MLA was from the BJP or Congress.
Saini also reiterated his long-standing criticism of Gandhi’s political career, claiming that in over two decades, the Congress leader had been unable to firmly establish himself, while also weakening his party in the process. “Rahul Gandhi keeps making unnecessary remarks on India’s constitutional institutions on every issue,” Saini asserted, adding that Gandhi’s recent comments on the Election Commission were simply an attempt to “save his political existence.”
The war of words escalated after Gandhi alleged a “huge criminal fraud” in the electoral process, accusing the BJP and the Election Commission of collusion a charge he called “a crime against the Constitution.” Gandhi cited constituency-level data from Karnataka to back his claims. Saini, however, dismissed these allegations as baseless and politically motivated, accusing Gandhi of targeting Haryana to mask the “laxity, failure, and factionalism” within the state Congress unit.
Concluding his attack, Saini credited the BJP’s victory to the people of Haryana responding positively to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call, giving the party a mandate for a third consecutive term. “The people have spoken loudly and clearly — they rejected the Congress and endorsed development and stability,” Saini said, reaffirming his government’s commitment to its electoral promises.
