Rajasthan Agriculture Minister Kirodi Lal Meena has vehemently denied allegations of corruption, staking his political career on the claims during a press interaction in Jaipur on Friday. Responding to accusations by Nagaur MP and Rashtriya Loktantrik Party (RLP) chief Hanuman Beniwal, Meena declared he would quit politics if any evidence of corrupt practices is substantiated. “I practice value-based politics with integrity. If there is any evidence, I am ready to be hanged,” he told reporters, emphasizing his commitment to clean governance.
The controversy stems from a heated television debate on Thursday over the cancellation of the 2021 sub-inspector recruitment exam, where Beniwal accused the state government of suppressing the issue and leveled personal allegations against Meena. The minister, visibly hurt, challenged Beniwal to produce concrete proof, stating, “If he can show even a farmer or a factory where I have taken a single penny or even had a cup of tea, I will leave politics.” Meena expressed deep personal pain over the accusations, noting that the emotional toll would linger.
The public clash has intensified political tensions in Rajasthan, with Meena’s bold ultimatum underscoring his resolve to uphold his reputation. As the debate over governance and accountability continues, all eyes are on Beniwal to substantiate his claims or face the minister’s challenge, which could reshape Rajasthan’s political landscape.
