The Congress party has launched the first phase of a nationwide campaign led by senior leader Rahul Gandhi, focusing on paper leaks, examination irregularities, and unemployment, in what it describes as a broad outreach effort aimed at addressing concerns raised by students and job aspirants across the country. The party announced on Saturday that the month-long programme will include a series of student conventions in major cities, with the objective of building a sustained political and public discourse around recruitment transparency and youth employment challenges.
Congress leaders said the campaign seeks to hold the government accountable for repeated disruptions in competitive examinations and recruitment processes. According to the party, the initiative is being launched against what it termed a “systematic betrayal” of India’s youth. It has accused the government of failing to ensure a fair and transparent examination system, while also highlighting concerns over rising unemployment and increasing costs associated with competitive exams. The campaign is expected to amplify these issues through structured outreach events and discussions with affected groups.
Congress general secretary (organisation) KC Venugopal said in a statement that the campaign will focus on the difficulties faced by millions of young Indians. He said students have been repeatedly impacted by paper leaks and irregularities, which have undermined confidence in recruitment examinations and created uncertainty about future career opportunities. Venugopal further stated that the programme will highlight broader structural issues in the education and employment ecosystem, including what the party describes as systemic failures in ensuring fairness and transparency. He added that the campaign will also call for institutional accountability and reforms aimed at safeguarding the interests of job seekers and students.

As part of the outreach programme, Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to hold student conventions across multiple cities over the next month. The campaign will begin in Kota on June 17, followed by events in Allahabad on July 10 and Patna on July 11, before concluding in Delhi on July 14. These conventions are expected to bring together students, job aspirants, youth organisations, educators, and others affected by alleged examination irregularities. Party leaders say the events will serve as a platform for direct interaction with those impacted, allowing participants to share experiences and concerns regarding recruitment processes and competitive examinations. The discussions are also expected to focus on policy suggestions and demands for stronger safeguards against paper leaks and administrative lapses.
The Congress has also called for a parliamentary discussion on the issue, along with demands for accountability from the government, including the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan. The party argues that repeated incidents of examination disruptions have created widespread frustration among youth and require urgent attention at the highest policy level. With this campaign, the Congress is attempting to position itself at the centre of the national debate on unemployment and examination reforms, framing the issue as both an economic and governance challenge.
