President Droupadi Murmu on Tuesday paid floral tribute to Dr B.R. Ambedkar at Lok Bhavan in Gandhinagar, marking the occasion of his birth anniversary during her official visit to Gujarat. The ceremony was held as part of commemorative events organised across the state to honour the architect of the Indian Constitution.
During the tribute, President Droupadi Murmu offered flowers to the portrait of Dr Ambedkar at the Governor’s official residence. The event saw the presence of Gujarat Governor Acharya Devvrat and senior officials from both the central and state governments, who also paid their respects during the solemn observance.
The programme was organised under the ‘Samajik Samrasta Mahotsava’, which marked Ambedkar Jayanti and brought together representatives from various administrative and social institutions. Officials said the gathering reflected Dr Ambedkar’s lasting contribution to constitutional values, social justice, and equality in India.

Later in the day, the President is scheduled to attend the fifth convocation ceremony of Rashtriya Raksha University (RRU) in Gandhinagar. Degrees will be conferred upon students from various campuses across the country, and senior state leaders, including the Governor and Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, are expected to be present at the event.
Droupadi Murmu is currently on a four-day official visit to Gujarat and Maharashtra from April 13 to 16, during which she is participating in multiple academic and commemorative programmes. Her engagements in Gujarat have primarily focused on higher education institutions and national observance events.
On Monday, the President attended the inaugural convocation of the All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) in Rajkot, where she addressed graduating students and presented degrees. She is scheduled to continue her visit in Maharashtra on Wednesday, where she will participate in further convocation ceremonies as part of her ongoing official tour.
