Jan Suraaj Party founder and renowned political strategist Prashant Kishor has declared the ruling National Democratic Alliance (NDA) in Bihar is doomed to lose the upcoming assembly elections, with Chief Minister Nitish Kumar certain to be ousted from power. Speaking in an exclusive interview on October 15, 2025, Kishor, once a close aide to Kumar, painted a grim picture for the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) and its coalition partner, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), citing their failure to finalize seat-sharing and candidate lists as a fatal weakness.
Kishor, who previously predicted the JD(U) would struggle to secure even 25 seats in the 243-member Bihar Assembly, doubled down on his assessment, pointing to the coalition’s disarray. “The NDA is definitely on its way out, and Nitish Kumar will not return as chief minister,” he asserted, leveraging his experience as a former poll strategist for Kumar. He recalled the 2020 elections, where Chirag Paswan’s revolt against JD(U) candidates slashed the party’s tally to just 43 seats, suggesting a similar or worse fate awaits due to ongoing internal chaos within the NDA.
The strategist also highlighted turmoil within the opposition INDIA bloc, noting persistent conflicts between the Rashtriya Janata Dal (RJD) and Congress, alongside uncertainty over Mukesh Sahani’s Vikassheel Insaan Party’s allegiance. This dual disarray, Kishor argued, underscores a broader political instability in Bihar, with neither alliance presenting a cohesive front. His stark warning points to a potential upheaval in the state’s leadership, as the NDA’s inability to unify could pave the way for a dramatic shift in power.

As Bihar’s political landscape teeters on the edge, Kishor’s bold predictions have ignited speculation about the state’s future. With the elections looming, the strategist’s insights, drawn from his deep ties to Bihar’s political machinery, signal a turbulent road ahead for Kumar and the NDA, raising questions about who will emerge to lead the state in this high-stakes electoral battle.
