The Kolkata Traffic Police has issued a traffic advisory ahead of a major political rally by Prime Minister Narendra Modi at the Brigade Parade Ground today. Authorities announced several road restrictions and diversions across key parts of the city as part of security and crowd management arrangements for the high-profile event.
Officials said vehicular movement will be regulated or diverted throughout the day in areas surrounding the rally venue. According to the advisory, traffic may be controlled on important routes including Esplanade Ramp, K.P. Road, Hospital Road, Lovers Lane, Casuarina Avenue and Queensway. The restrictions will be implemented as required depending on crowd movement and security needs around the rally site.
Police authorities warned that commuters could face significant delays in the central parts of the city due to the large gathering expected at the event. Motorists have been advised to plan their travel in advance and avoid the affected areas whenever possible. Traffic personnel will be deployed at multiple junctions to manage congestion and guide vehicles along alternate routes.

In addition to passenger vehicles, goods vehicle movement across several parts of the city will also remain restricted during the rally. Officials said the measures are intended to maintain smooth traffic flow and ensure the safety of both attendees and residents as thousands of people are expected to gather at the venue.
The rally at Brigade Parade Ground is considered one of the largest political gathering sites in eastern India and frequently hosts major political events. Large-scale rallies at the venue typically require extensive traffic management due to the ground’s central location and its proximity to major administrative and commercial districts in Kolkata.
Authorities have urged citizens to follow official advisories and cooperate with traffic personnel to minimize disruption. Commuters are also encouraged to rely on public transport where possible and allow extra travel time during the day as security arrangements remain in place for the Prime Minister’s visit.
