AIADMK General Secretary and former Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Friday urged Chief Minister M.K. Stalin to refrain from personal attacks and instead place the DMK government’s achievements before the public. Palaniswami said political discourse should focus on governance, accountability and delivery rather than personal remarks.
Addressing party workers and speaking to reporters, Palaniswami accused the ruling DMK of diverting attention from core administrative issues by targeting opposition leaders. He said the government should clearly outline its performance across sectors such as law and order, price stability, employment and infrastructure, allowing voters to judge its record on facts.
The AIADMK leader claimed that everyday concerns — including rising living costs, public safety and service delivery — continue to trouble citizens. He argued that sustained criticism of individuals does little to address these challenges and reflects an inability to defend the government’s own track record.

Palaniswami also defended the AIADMK’s tenure in office, asserting that his administration prioritised welfare delivery, fiscal discipline and development works across districts. He said the opposition remains prepared to engage in issue-based debates and scrutiny of policy outcomes.
Responding to the remarks, DMK leaders reiterated that the government has delivered on social justice, welfare schemes and infrastructure expansion, and accused the opposition of ignoring ongoing initiatives. They maintained that political criticism is part of democratic debate and said the government would continue to present its work to the public.
The exchange adds to the sharpening political rhetoric in Tamil Nadu as parties position themselves ahead of upcoming electoral contests. Analysts say the focus on governance versus personal attacks is likely to remain a central theme as both sides seek to shape public perception in the months ahead.
