BJP National President Nitin Nabin on Thursday credited Assam’s tea garden workers for giving the state global recognition, while also celebrating its spiritual depth and cultural harmony during his visit to Tinsukia and Dibrugarh districts. Sharing updates on social media platform X, he described Assam as a land where faith, nature, and economic strength coexist seamlessly.
During his visit to Barekuri village in Tinsukia district, Nabin offered prayers at the sacred Namghar, calling it a symbol of devotion and unity among the Moran community. He noted that the village represents a rare example of harmonious living between people and wildlife, reflecting Assam’s tradition of respecting both culture and ecology.
Referring to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s mention of Barekuri in his ‘Mann Ki Baat’ programme, Nabin highlighted that the village is home to the rare Hoolock Gibbons, locally known as “Holo Bandar.” He said the peaceful coexistence of residents and wildlife in Barekuri demonstrates how faith, culture, and environmental preservation can thrive together.

He described the interaction as an opportunity to witness Assam’s warm hospitality and rich culinary heritage, adding that such traditions strengthen social bonds and cultural pride.
Highlighting the economic backbone of the state, Nabin emphasized that Assam’s globally acclaimed tea industry owes its success to the relentless efforts of tea garden workers. He said their discipline and dedication have elevated Assam tea to international prominence, contributing significantly to the state’s economy and identity. The visit, he added, reinforced the need to preserve Assam’s cultural, ecological, and economic strengths while promoting inclusive and sustainable development.
