Maharashtra's Nationalist Congress Party (NCP), a key partner in the ruling Mahayuti coalition alongside BJP and Shiv Sena, will host a day-long 'Rashtravadi Chintan Shivir' in Nagpur on September 19. The conclave aims to devise a roadmap for national expansion, strengthen grassroots structures, and future-proof the party after over two years in power, amid ongoing Maratha-OBC quota tensions and preparations for local body elections, including Mumbai's civic polls.
NCP state president Sunil Tatkare announced the initiative on Friday, describing it as a national-level brainstorming session for organisational overhaul and tapping new opportunities. Led by Deputy Chief Minister Ajit Pawar, the event signals a shift toward long-term strategy. "This is not just a regular meeting; it's a powerful message. Under Ajit Pawar's leadership, the NCP is preparing for the future, not just the next election, but for the next two decades," Tatkare said.
Building on the party's strong showing in the 2024 Assembly elections—winning 41 of 59 seats with 5,816,566 votes (nearly triple its Lok Sabha tally)—the shivir follows a lacklustre one-seat win in the June 2024 parliamentary polls. It will gather MLAs, MPs, senior leaders, youth representatives, and thinkers nationwide to discuss voter outreach, action-orientated policies, national growth, youth- and women-focused initiatives, local election strategies, and booth-to-state-level strengthening.

Tatkare emphasised transforming ideology and operations to connect with every household and village, positioning NCP for sustained relevance. The event underscores the party's ambition to evolve beyond Maharashtra amid evolving political dynamics.
