Kerala Chief Minister V.D. Satheesan on Wednesday said the state government has not received any formal complaint regarding alleged financial irregularities linked to the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) election campaign expenditure. He said any further action would be considered only after receiving an official complaint from the concerned parties.
Speaking during the post-Cabinet media briefing, Satheesan said neither the state government nor any of its departments had received a complaint regarding the allegations so far. He added that if a complaint was submitted in the future, it would be examined and appropriate action would be taken according to the findings.
The Chief Minister’s statement comes amid a political controversy over allegations of financial misconduct within the Kerala BJP during election-related activities. The issue gained attention after a series of purported audio recordings surfaced, allegedly suggesting that commissions were paid to party functionaries in connection with the supply of campaign materials.

One of the latest audio clips reportedly features a company representative claiming that Rs 31 lakh was paid to a BJP leader before the party had cleared the entire payment for flags and banners. The representative also alleged that efforts to recover the remaining Rs 4.65 lakh owed under the agreement had not received any response from the concerned individuals.
Earlier allegations have also been raised regarding the alleged diversion and sale of campaign materials supplied free of cost by the BJP’s central leadership. Claims have been made that contracts for election materials were awarded to selected private firms at higher rates in exchange for commissions, though these allegations have not been officially established.
The controversy has led to criticism from some sections within the Kerala BJP, with dissenting leaders accusing the state leadership of failing to address claims of financial irregularities across multiple districts. Additional allegations have also emerged regarding the booking of rooms at a luxury hotel in Thiruvananthapuram during the election campaign using party funds. The Kerala BJP leadership is expected to review the allegations as the political debate continues.
