The Karnataka government strengthened its technology investment push by signing two Letters of Intent (LoIs) with global partners at the AI Impact Summit, positioning the state as a key destination for artificial intelligence and deep-tech collaboration.
The agreements were formalised in the presence of senior state officials and industry representatives, underscoring Karnataka’s strategy to deepen public–private partnerships in emerging technologies. The LoIs focus on expanding AI research, skill development, startup incubation, and enterprise adoption of advanced digital solutions across sectors including manufacturing, healthcare, governance, and fintech.
Officials said the partnerships aim to accelerate technology transfer, foster joint innovation programs, and attract high-value investments into Karnataka’s established tech ecosystem, anchored by Bengaluru. The state government has been actively pitching Karnataka as India’s premier innovation hub, leveraging its concentration of global capability centres, startups, and research institutions.

The AI Impact Summit — inaugurated by Prime Minister Narendra Modi — has drawn participation from leading global technology executives, policymakers, and researchers. Karnataka’s delegation used the platform to highlight policy incentives, infrastructure readiness, and its talent pipeline in artificial intelligence, machine learning, semiconductor design, and data engineering.
According to state officials, one of the LoIs focuses on establishing collaborative research and development frameworks between industry and academic institutions in Karnataka. The second agreement outlines plans to create dedicated AI skilling initiatives aimed at enhancing workforce readiness and bridging talent gaps in high-demand areas such as generative AI, robotics automation, and applied data science.
The government indicated that these initiatives align with Karnataka’s broader digital economy roadmap, which prioritises innovation clusters, deep-tech startups, and next-generation computing capabilities. The state has already rolled out sector-specific policies covering IT, biotechnology, and electronics manufacturing, and is now seeking to integrate AI across these verticals.
Industry observers note that Karnataka’s proactive engagement at the summit reflects intensifying competition among Indian states to attract AI-led investments. With global firms expanding their India footprint, state governments are increasingly offering policy support, infrastructure, and fiscal incentives to secure technology partnerships.
Officials emphasised that the Letters of Intent represent a preliminary framework for cooperation, with detailed implementation roadmaps expected to follow after technical consultations and due diligence processes. If executed effectively, the partnerships could catalyse new research centres, generate high-skilled employment, and strengthen Karnataka’s standing as a global innovation gateway.
As AI adoption accelerates worldwide, Karnataka’s latest agreements signal its intent to move beyond being merely an IT services hub to becoming a centre for advanced technology creation and applied artificial intelligence deployment.
