YSRCP chief Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy has stirred controversy by alleging that the 2024 general elections in Andhra Pradesh witnessed the country’s largest electoral anomaly, involving nearly 48 lakh votes, or 12.5% of the state’s total votes. Speaking at a press conference at the YSRCP central office in Tadepalli on Wednesday, Reddy accused Congress leader Rahul Gandhi of remaining conspicuously silent on the issue, claiming he is in “hotline contact” with Telugu Desam Party (TDP) leader N. Chandrababu Naidu.
Reddy asserted that the scale of the alleged irregularity—marked by a significant vote percentage discrepancy between polling and counting—stands unmatched nationwide. He criticized Congress national spokesperson Manickam Tagore for failing to address Naidu’s alleged role in “undermining democracy” through visible scams, including illegal liquor shops, permit rooms, and illicit dealings in sand, silica, quartz, and laterite. Reddy further alleged a covert alliance between Naidu, Telangana Chief Minister Revanth Reddy, and the Congress high command, which he claimed explains their silence on Andhra’s electoral issues.
The YSRCP leader highlighted that the anomaly prompted a delegation of party leaders to approach the Election Commission of India, which assured a Special Intensive Revision (SIV) to investigate the claims. Neither the Congress nor the TDP has issued an immediate response to Reddy’s allegations, leaving the charges unaddressed as political tensions rise in Andhra Pradesh.
