Gujarat Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel announced a groundbreaking 10-year recruitment calendar for all state government departments, signaling a major push for job creation and transparent governance. The announcement came during an event at Mahatma Mandir Convention Centre in Gandhinagar, where Patel handed out appointment letters to 2,320 new conductors of the Gujarat State Road Transport Corporation (GSRTC) and 144 officers of the state water supply department.
Patel credited Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision for revolutionizing the state’s recruitment process, highlighting the online system Modi introduced as Gujarat’s former CM. “This system has made recruitment fast and transparent, and we’ve now mapped out a 10-year plan to ensure steady job opportunities across all departments,” Patel declared.
Celebrating World Population Day, Patel emphasized India’s youthful demographic as a key pillar of the Viksit Bharat 2047 vision. He lauded Modi’s leadership for transforming Gujarat from a water-scarce state to a water-surplus one through initiatives like the Sujalam Sufalam scheme and the Saurashtra Narmada Avtaran Irrigation Yojana (Sauni). “Modi brought a water revolution, diverting Narmada’s floodwaters to arid regions,” he said.

Patel also praised the GSRTC’s modernization, noting its adoption of online ticket booking, QR code scanning, AC sleeper coaches, and electric buses. “From serving during natural calamities and the COVID-19 pandemic to embracing cutting-edge technology, GSRTC is a shining example of progress,” he said. He highlighted the inclusive legacy of Modi, who pioneered hiring women bus conductors, with 763 women and 85 differently-abled individuals currently employed by GSRTC.
