Goa Chief Minister Pramod Sawant warmly welcomed the appointment of former civil aviation minister Ashok Gajapathi Raju as the new governor of Goa, hailing him as a veteran leader with deep administrative and parliamentary expertise.
President Droupadi Murmu officially appointed Raju on Monday, succeeding P S Sreedharan Pillai, who has served since July 2021.
In a message on social media platform X, Sawant said, “On behalf of the people of Goa, I warmly welcome Ashok Gajapathi Raju as governor of this beautiful state. His vast experience will be invaluable as we push forward towards our vision of Viksit Goa 2037.”

The CM expressed optimism about close collaboration with the new governor, aiming to accelerate Goa’s development and welfare initiatives.
