Former Indian Ambassador to the United States Taranjit Singh Sandhu has been appointed as the new Lieutenant Governor of Delhi, according to an official communiqué issued by the President’s Secretariat. The appointment was announced as part of a broader reshuffle of Governors and Lieutenant Governors across several states and Union Territories by President Droupadi Murmu.
Sandhu will replace Vinai Kumar Saxena, who has served as Delhi’s Lieutenant Governor since May 26, 2022. Saxena has now been appointed as the Lieutenant Governor of Ladakh, taking over from Kavinder Gupta. Gupta, in turn, has been appointed as the new Governor of Himachal Pradesh as part of the administrative changes.
The reshuffle includes several key gubernatorial appointments across the country. R. N. Ravi, who currently serves as the Governor of Tamil Nadu, has been appointed as the Governor of West Bengal following the resignation of C. V. Ananda Bose. Rajendra Vishwanath Arlekar, the current Governor of Kerala, will discharge the functions of the Governor of Tamil Nadu.
