Karnataka Chief Minister D K Shivakumar on Tuesday described his meeting with Members of Parliament from the state in New Delhi as a "major success", saying the gathering highlighted the importance of unity among political leaders for the development of Karnataka. The meeting, held on Monday, brought together MPs from different political parties to discuss issues related to the state’s development and coordination between elected representatives at the Centre and the state government. Shivakumar said the interaction demonstrated that "there is strength in unity" and emphasised the need for leaders to work together beyond party lines.
According to the Karnataka Chief Minister’s Office (CMO), the meeting received a strong response from MPs across political parties and was appreciated by opposition leaders for its objective and the Chief Minister’s inclusive approach. The CMO said the gathering reflected a collective effort to address Karnataka’s priorities at the national level. The meeting was attended by several prominent political leaders, including Union Ministers Pralhad Joshi, Shobha Karandlaje and V Somanna, along with BJP leaders Basavaraj Bommai and Jagadish Shettar. Rajya Sabha member Sudha Murty was also present at the interaction.
The CMO quoted several leaders as saying that they had rarely witnessed such wide participation by MPs in a meeting focused on state development issues. They reportedly described the gathering as an unprecedented initiative and a first of its kind in terms of attendance and cross-party participation. Shivakumar said cooperation between representatives from different political backgrounds was essential to ensure Karnataka’s interests were effectively raised at the national level. He stressed that development-related matters required collective efforts and coordination rather than political differences.
