Union Minister Dharmendra Pradhan on Monday mounted a sharp attack on West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and the Trinamool Congress (TMC), alleging that the state has been pushed into “chaos, appeasement and corruption” under the current regime. His remarks came through a post on social media platform X, where he also expressed confidence that voters would favour the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) in the upcoming Assembly elections.
Pradhan claimed that West Bengal, once known for its cultural and intellectual prominence, is now facing declining governance standards. He alleged that the ruling party’s popular slogan “Maa, Mati, Manush” has lost its meaning in practice, and said public trust in the administration has weakened due to rising dissatisfaction over governance issues.
The Union Minister further accused the state government of failing to maintain law and order, alleging that corruption and what he described as a “syndicate raj” have affected administrative functioning and slowed down development. He also criticised what he termed “politics of appeasement,” claiming it has impacted social cohesion in the state.

Highlighting socio-economic concerns, Pradhan said farmers were not receiving fair prices for their produce, while unemployment among youth has reportedly led to migration and growing frustration. He also raised concerns about women’s safety, asserting that crime-related worries have increased under the current administration.
In his posts, Pradhan projected a strong anti-incumbency sentiment, stating that public anger against the TMC government is rising and would be reflected in the next Assembly elections. He expressed confidence that voters would deliver a decisive mandate in favour of the BJP.
In a separate message, the Union Minister also accused the TMC government of undermining citizens’ rights by allegedly favouring infiltrators, a claim he said is being widely opposed across West Bengal. He reiterated that issues such as unemployment, women’s safety, and farmer distress remain key public concerns that he believes will shape electoral outcomes in the state.
