In a significant verdict, a Delhi court has acquitted former Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal and his deputy Manish Sisodia of all charges in the corruption case linked to the alleged Delhi liquor policy scam. While delivering the judgement, the court stated that it found no evidence of a criminal conspiracy and described the allegations brought forth by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) as “lacking substance". The prosecution, the court observed, had failed to establish its case against the two Aam Aadmi Party (AAP) leaders.
Following the acquittal, AAP leader Sanjay Singh demanded an apology from the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that attempts had been made to defame the party’s leadership. “The court has acquitted our leaders. It has been proven that a dangerous conspirator is ruling over the country’s power. Whoever hatched a conspiracy to malign our honest leaders must apologise to the nation. Our leaders were tortured in jail,” Singh wrote on X, highlighting the party’s stance that the allegations were politically motivated.
Manish Sisodia also reacted to the verdict on social media, writing “Satyamev Jayate (Truth alone triumphs)” and praising the vision of Dr B.R. Ambedkar and the Constitution. Sisodia said, “Despite all the attempts by the ruling party and its agencies to prove us dishonest, it has been proven today that Arvind Kejriwal and I remain staunchly honest.”

The court’s judgement marks the end of a high-profile legal battle that had cast a shadow over the AAP leadership, reinforcing their claims of integrity and honesty in governance. The verdict is widely seen as a major relief for the party ahead of upcoming political events, and it has sparked reactions across social and political platforms.
The CBI had investigated the alleged irregularities in the Delhi Excise Policy, claiming that the scheme was implemented in a manner that caused undue benefits to select liquor vendors. However, the court’s verdict now concludes that the evidence presented by the investigating agency was insufficient to substantiate any criminal wrongdoing by the former CM and deputy CM.
