The Punjab Congress has launched a sharp political attack on the state government, claiming that medicines meant for patients are being delivered in as little as five minutes, raising questions about the authenticity and quality of healthcare services. The party alleged that such rapid delivery suggests corner-cutting in the handling of medicines, potentially compromising patient safety.
Speaking at a press conference, senior Congress leaders questioned the ruling Aam Aadmi Party’s (AAP) claims of efficient healthcare distribution. “Speed cannot come at the cost of safety. We demand clarity on how such fast deliveries are being managed and whether proper protocols are being followed,” said a Congress spokesperson.
The AAP government, however, dismissed the allegations as politically motivated. Officials insisted that the quick delivery process is part of a digitally enabled healthcare initiative, designed to ensure timely medicine supply to citizens across the state without compromising quality. They added that all deliveries follow stringent guidelines and verification procedures.

Healthcare experts note that while technology-enabled delivery can reduce waiting times, maintaining the integrity and correct handling of medicines is crucial. “Rapid distribution must be accompanied by rigorous checks. Otherwise, there is a risk of errors, especially in sensitive drugs,” said a medical professional familiar with state health programs.
This political spat comes ahead of upcoming local elections, with both parties seeking to demonstrate accountability in public service delivery. The Congress has vowed to continue scrutinizing the government’s healthcare initiatives, while AAP has promised to highlight its efficiency and citizen-centric approach.
Observers say that the debate over the five-minute drug delivery reflects broader concerns in Punjab regarding transparency, healthcare quality, and governance. Both parties are expected to intensify their messaging in the coming weeks, making healthcare a key battleground issue.
