Chhattisgarh Chief Minister Vishnu Deo Sai chaired a high-level Unified Command meeting in Nava Raipur Atal Nagar to strategize the eradication of Naxalism and advance development in left-wing extremism (LWE)-affected areas. The meeting, attended by Deputy CM and Home Minister Vijay Sharma, Chief Secretary Amitabh Jain, DGP Arun Dev Gautam, and senior officials from CRPF, ITBP, BSF, SSB, CISF, and the Indian Air Force, focused on reviewing the progress of anti-Naxal operations and development initiatives.
Sai emphasized the dual approach of robust security measures and community-focused development to eliminate Naxalism by March 31, 2026, aligning with the vision of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah.
The meeting highlighted significant successes, with security forces neutralizing 454 Maoists, arresting over 1,600, and facilitating around 1,700 surrenders since December 2023, alongside establishing 65 new security camps. Sai praised the forces for dismantling top Naxal cadres and stressed the importance of winning local trust through the Niyad Nellanar scheme, which delivers government benefits to remote villages.
Discussions also covered inter-state coordination, advanced technology use, and infrastructure expansion, including railway lines, roads, and schools in affected areas. Deputy CM Sharma clarified that while armed Naxalism is targeted for elimination by March 2026, efforts to rehabilitate radicalized individuals and fill security gaps will continue.
Addressing reporters, Sai expressed confidence in meeting the 2026 deadline, while Sharma condemned Naxalites for civilian killings, warning that perpetrators face stern action and no rehabilitation. The state’s aggressive strategy, coupled with development initiatives, aims to dismantle Naxal networks while fostering economic and social progress in affected regions.
The Unified Command’s comprehensive approach underscores Chhattisgarh’s commitment to restoring peace and stability, positioning the state as a key player in India’s broader mission to eradicate left-wing extremism.
