Prime Minister Narendra Modi launched a scathing attack on opposition leaders, accusing them of hypocrisy for championing the Constitution while enforcing unjust and regressive laws during their tenure. Speaking at an event in the capital after inaugurating two expressways, Modi criticized opposition figures, particularly Congress leader Rahul Gandhi, for symbolically brandishing the Constitution while betraying its spirit in the past.
“Those who dance with the Constitution on their heads trampled its values and Baba Saheb Ambedkar’s ideals,” Modi declared, addressing a large gathering. He highlighted a repealed provision in the Delhi Municipal Corporation Act that allowed jailing sanitation workers for a month if they missed duty without notice. “The opposition treated sanitation workers like slaves. Is this their idea of social justice?” he asked, emphasizing his government’s efforts to abolish such laws.
Modi claimed his administration has repealed hundreds of outdated and oppressive regulations, with more reforms underway to align governance with constitutional values. He accused opposition parties, including Congress, of enacting laws that undermined marginalized communities while now posing as defenders of social equity. “Their hypocrisy is exposed. They can’t digest BJP’s success in Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan, and Uttar Pradesh,” he said.

The Prime Minister underscored the BJP’s dominance in the NCR, attributing it to public trust in his party’s development agenda. “With BJP governments in Delhi, Haryana, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, we are committed to transforming the region,” Modi said, highlighting infrastructure projects like the Dwarka Expressway and Urban Extension Road-II as evidence of progress. He accused opposition parties of being disconnected from public aspirations and resorting to divisive tactics.
Modi recalled recent opposition-led conspiracies to incite discord between Delhi and Haryana, including false claims that Haryana was poisoning Delhi’s water supply. “Such negative politics have been rejected by the people of NCR,” he asserted, crediting voters for supporting BJP’s vision of unity and development. He praised Delhi’s sanitation workers for their critical role, urging citizens to appreciate their contributions daily.
The event, attended by Union Minister Nitin Gadkari and other BJP leaders, showcased the government’s focus on modernizing infrastructure while addressing historical injustices. Modi’s remarks come amid heightened political tensions, with the opposition accusing the BJP of undermining democratic institutions. The Prime Minister countered that his government is strengthening the Constitution by removing regressive colonial-era laws and prioritizing inclusive growth.
As the BJP consolidates its hold in the NCR, Modi’s speech signals a robust defense of his party’s governance model, positioning it as a champion of both development and social justice against an opposition he deems out of touch and duplicitous.
