BJP National General Secretary Tarun Chugh on Thursday unleashing a scathing attack on Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann and his party's National Convener Arvind Kejriwal over their claims of fighting drugs in Punjab, he said they are only botching the fight against the drug menace in the State.
He said the "rubber-stamp government" is neither fighting the drug menace in Punjab effectively nor does it cooperate with Central agencies in drug-related investigations despite orders from the High Court.
BJP leader Chugh said in a statement that this double standard proves that AAP is only misleading the people of Punjab. "CM Mann and his puppet government are putting on a show of battling drugs post-AAP’s Delhi debacle, but they’re dodging cooperation with central probes, flouting High Court directives.” He accused AAP of duplicity, claiming, “This hypocrisy shows they’re just fooling Punjab’s people. They couldn’t care any less about the youth dying daily to drugs”.
The court had earlier directed the CBI, the NCB, and the police of Punjab, Haryana, and Chandigarh to coordinate and act against drug trafficking. However, the Mann-led Punjab government's inaction remains the biggest obstacle in the fight against drugs, BJP leader Chugh said, and warned that Punjab's future "is at stake due to the rampant drug crisis, but the Aam Aadmi Party is playing politics even on this serious issue" (with inputs from IANS).
