BJP National General Secretary Radha Mohan Das Agrawal on Saturday described former Tamil Nadu BJP president K Annamalai's decision to leave the party as a personal choice, while emphasising that the Bharatiya Janata Party remains focused on its long-term national vision rather than short-term political developments.
Speaking to reporters on the sidelines of a meeting of BJP functionaries in Mangaluru, Agrawal said the party's strategies are guided by broader national interests and future goals. He stressed that the BJP, as a national political organisation, prioritises long-term planning and policy objectives over immediate political gains.
Responding to questions regarding Annamalai's departure, Agrawal refrained from elaborating on the circumstances surrounding the move. "We do not focus excessively on short-term politics. Annamalai's decision to leave the party is his personal decision. At this stage, I can say only this much," he said.

The BJP leader was also asked about speculation surrounding a possible change in the party's leadership in Karnataka. Agrawal said any decision on the matter would be taken by the BJP's national president, adding that the central leadership was closely monitoring political developments in the state and remained aware of the performance and achievements of the current state leadership.
Turning to the political situation in Karnataka, Agrawal alleged that public dissatisfaction with the Congress government was increasing. He claimed that the impact of this discontent would become evident during the 2028 Karnataka Assembly elections, when voters would assess the government's record and performance.
Agrawal further asserted that the BJP would continue to oppose what it described as the state government's anti-people policies and governance failures. He said the party intended to pursue its political campaign through democratic means, without resorting to divisive or provocative tactics, while seeking to strengthen its position ahead of future electoral contests.
