The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) has officially accepted the resignation of Telangana MLA T Raja Singh, who stepped down in protest over the party’s selection of N Ramchander Rao as its Telangana state president. Singh, representing Goshamahal, had expressed dismay in a June 30 letter to then-president G Kishan Reddy, claiming the decision shocked and disappointed numerous party members.
Hours after Singh’s letter, Rao was confirmed as the new state president, replacing Reddy. In response, BJP general secretary Arun Singh dismissed Singh’s allegations as “irrelevant” and inconsistent with the party’s ideology and principles. In a formal communication, Arun Singh informed Singh that, per national president J P Nadda’s directive, his resignation was accepted with immediate effect.
Known for his staunch Hindutva stance, Raja Singh has frequently courted controversy with provocative statements, particularly targeting Muslims. His rhetoric once led to a temporary suspension from the BJP. The acceptance of his resignation marks a significant development in the party’s Telangana unit, raising questions about its internal dynamics.
