Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar released a video message on Saturday urging voters to grant the National Democratic Alliance (NDA) another term, asserting that he has governed the state with “honesty and hard work” since taking office in 2005. The Janata Dal (United) leader, whose party is allied with the Bharatiya Janata Party in the ruling coalition, emphasised that his administration has worked for every community—Hindus, Muslims, upper castes, backward classes, extremely backward classes, Dalits, and Mahadalits—without favouring his own family. With assembly elections approaching, Kumar framed the appeal as a plea for continued development to elevate Bihar among India’s leading states.
Kumar highlighted the transformation of Bihar’s image since he first became chief minister two decades ago, when “being a Bihari was a matter of insult.” He credited his government with major improvements in education, healthcare, road infrastructure, electricity supply, drinking water access, agriculture, and youth employment opportunities. Special attention, he said, has been given to women’s empowerment; policies have enabled women to become financially independent and capable of managing family responsibilities without reliance on others. The chief minister presented these achievements as evidence of inclusive governance benefiting all societal segments.
The video message comes amid intense campaign activity ahead of the Bihar assembly polls, where the NDA faces opposition from the Rashtriya Janata Dal-led Mahagathbandhan. Kumar, who has switched political alliances multiple times in his career, positioned the appeal as a non-partisan call for unity and progress. He explicitly distanced himself from dynastic politics, declaring, “We have not done anything for our family,” in an apparent contrast to rivals often accused of nepotism. The statement aligns with his long-standing public persona as a development-focused administrator.

Urging citizens to ensure victory for NDA candidates, Kumar promised accelerated growth in a potential next term. “Give us one more chance,” he said, pledging that further reforms would propel Bihar into the ranks of India’s most developed states. The appeal underscores the high stakes of the election, with infrastructure, employment, and social welfare emerging as central issues. As polling dates near, Kumar’s video is expected to feature prominently in the NDA’s outreach efforts across the state.
