Shiv Sena (UBT) MLC Anil Parab escalated his feud with Maharashtra Minister of State for Home Yogesh Kadam, daring him to file a defamation suit or privilege notice over allegations linking Kadam’s family to an illegal dance bar and sand mining. Speaking at a press conference, Parab vowed to present evidence to Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, demanding Kadam’s resignation for alleged conflicts of interest.
Parab accused Kadam of ties to the Saavali bar in Kandivali, Mumbai, claiming its permit is registered under Kadam’s mother, Jyoti Kadam, despite Maharashtra’s ban on dance bars. He cited police raids on May 30, 2023, apprehending 22 dancers, 22 customers, and four staff, with prior raids on May 28 and August 10, 2023, for similar violations. “Kadam failed to act despite knowing about the bar’s illegal activities,” Parab charged, arguing it reflects a breach of ministerial responsibility.
Additionally, Parab alleged Kadam diverted silt from the Jagbudi river in Ratnagiri, intended for farmers, to a dental college linked to his family, named after Kadam’s sister. Although Kadam claimed on Monday he is no longer associated with the college, Parab countered that Kadam’s family remains involved in its trust, constituting a conflict of interest. Parab submitted drone footage and geo-tagged photos as evidence, planning to hand a pen drive to Fadnavis.

Kadam, denying the allegations as “baseless” on Monday, threatened a privilege notice against Parab for raising the issue in his absence during the Maharashtra Legislative Council’s monsoon session. He insisted he ordered police crackdowns on illegal dance bars and clarified that Jagbudi’s silt, not sand, was removed to prevent flooding, dismissing Parab’s claims as politically motivated.
Parab, undeterred, challenged Kadam to pursue legal action, stating, “File a defamation suit or privilege notice—I’ll prove my charges in court.” He warned that if Fadnavis does not act, he will approach the judiciary. The escalating row, fueled by Parab’s evidence and Kadam’s rebuttals, threatens to intensify political tensions in Maharashtra.
