Union Home Minister Amit Shah is scheduled to lead a series of high-profile roadshows in Tamil Nadu on Sunday, as the Bharatiya Janata Party intensifies its campaign efforts ahead of the upcoming Assembly elections. The visits come as the party seeks to strengthen its presence in key constituencies during the final phase of campaigning.
According to party sources, Shah arrived in Coimbatore on Saturday night and is expected to begin his outreach programme from the western region of the state. His first roadshow will be held in the Modakurichi Assembly constituency in Erode district, where he will campaign for BJP candidate Kirthika Shivkumar. The western belt is considered strategically important for the party, with leadership focusing on direct voter engagement.
Later in the day, Shah will travel to Chennai for another major roadshow in support of party nominee Tamilisai Soundararajan. The Chennai leg of the campaign is expected to draw significant attention as the BJP attempts to expand its footprint in urban constituencies across Tamil Nadu.

As part of his visit, Shah is also expected to offer prayers at the historic Kapaleeshwarar Temple in Mylapore before participating in the roadshow. Party leaders said the temple visit is part of the broader outreach strategy aimed at connecting with local sentiments and traditions.
Senior BJP functionaries described the twin roadshows as part of a last-mile mobilisation effort designed to energise party cadres and consolidate voter support ahead of polling. The campaign emphasis, they said, is on direct interaction with voters and high-visibility public outreach.
Meanwhile, local authorities have implemented enhanced security arrangements and traffic diversions in Coimbatore and Chennai to manage the expected crowds and movement of political convoys. With campaigning entering its final stretch, the BJP is banking on the presence of senior national leaders like Shah to boost momentum and improve its electoral prospects in the state.
