Union Home Minister Amit Shah effectively kickstarted the Bharatiya Janata Party's campaign for the upcoming Tamil Nadu Assembly elections by converting the concluding event of state BJP president Nainar Nagendran's statewide tour into a major political rally. Addressing enthusiastic party workers and supporters, Shah projected unwavering confidence in the National Democratic Alliance forming the next government in the state.
Shah launched a scathing offensive against the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, accusing it of perpetuating dynastic rule, widespread corruption, and failing to safeguard women's security. Targeting the DMK leadership succession, he remarked that the party's ambition to pass power from M Karunanidhi to MK Stalin and then to Udhayanidhi Stalin would remain unfulfilled, eliciting strong approval from the audience.
The Home Minister highlighted the contentious Thiruparankundram temple issue to allege that the DMK government was infringing upon Hindu rights, a narrative the BJP has increasingly employed to mobilize its core supporters. He strongly endorsed the renewed alliance with the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, describing it as a natural partnership, and cited the combined vote share from the 2024 Lok Sabha elections as evidence that a united NDA could have secured up to 26 seats.

Despite the optimistic rhetoric, the NDA coalition faces internal challenges, including divisions within the AIADMK under Edappadi K Palaniswami, ongoing leadership disputes in the PMK, uncertainty surrounding the DMDK's alignment, and the recent departure of figures such as O Panneerselvam and TTV Dhinakaran. The emergence of actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam adds further complexity to the electoral landscape.
In response, DMK spokesperson T K S Elangovan dismissed accusations of anti-Hindu policies, asserting that the party was established to protect Hindu interests. Meanwhile, Shah continued his outreach by participating in Pongal celebrations in Trichy, strategically combining cultural engagement with intensified political positioning ahead of the crucial polls.
