Samajwadi Party (SP) president Akhilesh Yadav declared that his party played a pivotal role in diminishing the Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) dominance in the 2024 Lok Sabha elections, securing 37 of Uttar Pradesh’s 80 seats compared to BJP’s 33.
Addressing a delegation of ulemas at SP’s state headquarters in Lucknow, Yadav vowed to remove the BJP from power in the 2027 Uttar Pradesh assembly elections, asserting that it is in the nation’s interest to end their rule. He urged party workers to intensify efforts to strengthen booth-level presence and remain vigilant against BJP’s alleged electoral malpractices.
Yadav outlined a vision for an SP-led government rooted in social justice, emphasizing the party’s PDA (Pichhde, Dalit, Alpsankhyak) policy to promote welfare, development, and justice for marginalized communities. He accused the BJP of fostering injustice, corruption, and communal politics, alleging a breakdown of law and order marked by mob lynchings, custodial deaths, and false cases against innocents.
Yadav further criticized the BJP for neglecting farmers, youth, students, and weavers, claiming the party has “destroyed every sector” in Uttar Pradesh while promoting a “business of hate.”
On the national front, Yadav slammed the BJP-led central government’s foreign policy, particularly its handling of India-China relations, warning that China’s growing influence over trade and markets threatens India’s interests. The ulemas, expressing solidarity, praised Yadav for following in the footsteps of SP founder Mulayam Singh Yadav and pledged their support.
As the 2027 polls approach, Yadav’s aggressive stance signals a fierce political battle to reshape Uttar Pradesh’s governance landscape.
