Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Friday assured Kanwariyas of the state government’s support and security arrangements during the annual Kanwar Yatra, while urging devotees to maintain discipline and follow the values associated with Lord Ram, Lord Krishna and Lord Shiva. Addressing concerns related to the pilgrimage, the Chief Minister said the government stands with Kanwariyas and will ensure proper arrangements for their safety. He also appealed to devotees participating in the religious journey to maintain peace, order and harmony throughout the yatra.
Yogi Adityanath urged Kanwariyas to uphold Lord Ram’s maryada (dignity), Lord Krishna’s values and Lord Shiva’s simplicity, saying that the pilgrimage should reflect devotion, discipline and respect. He emphasised that the conduct of devotees should set an example of religious commitment and social responsibility. The Chief Minister also cautioned pilgrims against attempts by anti-social elements to disrupt the peaceful atmosphere during the Kanwar Yatra. He said authorities would remain vigilant and take necessary action against those trying to create disturbances.
The Kanwar Yatra is an annual pilgrimage in which devotees of Lord Shiva, known as Kanwariyas, travel to collect holy water from rivers and offer it at Shiva temples. The pilgrimage attracts millions of devotees, particularly from Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand, Delhi, Haryana, Rajasthan and other neighbouring states. Ahead of the yatra, authorities across Uttar Pradesh have been making arrangements related to security, traffic management, medical facilities and crowd control. Special measures are generally put in place along major routes used by pilgrims to ensure smooth movement and prevent untoward incidents.
