Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Thursday declared that the state has transformed from its old image of “one district, one mafia” to “one district, one medical college” while inaugurating the new 550-bed Medanta Super Specialty Hospital in Noida’s Sector 50. The CM, who had earlier inspected the upcoming Noida International Airport in Jewar, spent about half an hour at the facility and emphasized that every citizen—especially the poorest—has the right to world-class healthcare, a vision the state is aggressively pursuing through massive infrastructure expansion.
Addressing the gathering alongside Medanta chairman Dr. Naresh Trehan, district in-charge minister Brijesh Singh, Noida MLA Pankaj Singh, and local BJP leaders, Adityanath highlighted how the “double-engine” BJP governments at the Centre and state have revolutionized health access. He credited the Ayushman Bharat scheme for covering nearly 50 crore people nationwide, adding that Uttar Pradesh spent ₹1,300 crore from the Chief Minister’s Relief Fund in a single year to treat those left uncovered. “Health facilities are increasing regularly,” he said, pointing to the establishment of medical colleges in every district as proof of the state’s changed identity.
The CM also cited governance reforms that have eased private investment in healthcare, including reducing the mandatory road width requirement for hospitals from 18 meters to seven meters to fast-track projects. He urged greater adoption of artificial intelligence in medicine, noting that the Centre of Excellence at IIT Kanpur is already working on AI-driven solutions to improve diagnostics and treatment for common citizens.

Recalling past public health failures, Adityanath said that over four decades, around 50,000 children had died of encephalitis in Gorakhpur alone, but his government controlled the outbreak within two years through a special campaign and dedicated task force. He described the new Medanta facility as a milestone that would not only provide advanced care to NCR residents but also generate thousands of jobs.
Praising Medanta’s contribution, the CM requested Dr. Trehan to consider opening another super-specialty hospital in eastern Uttar Pradesh to extend similar facilities to the state’s most underserved regions. The Noida hospital, equipped with cutting-edge technology across cardiology, oncology, neurosciences, and organ transplants, marks the latest addition to Uttar Pradesh’s rapidly growing medical landscape.
With the state aggressively pushing both greenfield airports and tertiary healthcare hubs, Adityanath portrayed Thursday’s twin events—the Jewar airport inspection and the Medanta inauguration—as twin pillars of a “new Uttar Pradesh” focused on connectivity, health security, and economic opportunity for all.
