Defence Minister Rajnath Singh held a critical 40-minute meeting with Chief of Defence Staff General Anil Chauhan at his Delhi residence on Sunday to address military preparedness following the April 22 Pahalgam terror attack, which killed 26 tourists.
Sources indicate General Chauhan briefed Singh on strategies to eliminate terrorism, detailing the Indian military’s readiness. BSF officers also attended discussions in Delhi, while BSF Director General Daljit Singh Chaudhary met Home Ministry officials to review ongoing anti-terror operations in Jammu and Kashmir.
Tensions along the Line of Control (LoC) escalated as the Pakistani Army violated the ceasefire for the third consecutive day on Sunday, with unprovoked firing on April 26-27. The Indian Army responded robustly, delivering a “strong and befitting reply,” according to military sources.

Amid these provocations, the Indian Navy demonstrated its combat readiness by successfully conducting an anti-ship missile exercise on Sunday. The Navy stated, “This anti-ship firing drill has re-validated the readiness of the platform, systems and personnel for conducting long-range precision offensive strikes,” affirming its ability to safeguard maritime interests “anytime, anywhere.”
The coordinated response across military branches underscores India’s resolve to counter terrorism and external threats. The Pahalgam attack, attributed to The Resistance Front, has intensified calls for decisive action against Pakistan-based terror groups, with India bolstering its defense posture to ensure national security.
