Vice President C P Radhakrishnan arrived in Vijayawada on Wednesday to participate in the vibrant Dasara festival celebrations and other engagements in Andhra Pradesh. He was warmly welcomed at Gannavaram Airport near Vijayawada by Governor S Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, and senior state officials, marking the start of a significant visit during one of the state’s most cherished cultural festivals.
Radhakrishnan’s itinerary includes offering prayers at the revered Kanaka Durga temple, a focal point of Dasara festivities in Vijayawada, where thousands gather annually to honor Goddess Durga. Later in the day, at 5:00 p.m., he will attend the Vijayawada Utsav at Punnami Ghat, a cultural event showcasing the region’s traditions and community spirit. The Vice President’s presence underscores the importance of Dasara, a major Hindu festival celebrated with grandeur across Andhra Pradesh, symbolizing the triumph of good over evil.
Following the Vijayawada events, Radhakrishnan is scheduled to depart for Tirupati at 6:25 p.m., arriving in Tirumala by night. On Thursday, he will participate in darshan and seva at the iconic Tirumala Venkateswara Temple, one of India’s holiest pilgrimage sites. He will spend the night at a guest house in Tirumala, concluding a visit that highlights both spiritual and cultural aspects of the region.
