Vice President Jagdeep Dhankhar on Saturday firmly declared that India’s decisions are made solely by its leadership, rejecting external narratives and influences. Speaking to India Defence Estates Service trainees, he emphasized that no global power can dictate how India manages its affairs, addressing opposition demands for clarification on US President Donald Trump’s claims of brokering a ceasefire in a recent India-Pakistan conflict.
“Don’t be guided by narratives outside. All decisions in this country, a sovereign nation, are taken by its leadership. There is no power on the planet to dictate India how to handle its affairs,” Dhankhar asserted. He highlighted India’s commitment to diplomatic dialogue and mutual respect with other nations but stressed its unwavering sovereignty in decision-making.
Using a cricket analogy, Dhankhar advised against engaging with every provocation. “Is it required to have wrestling sessions as to who said what? One who scores good runs on the cricket pitch always leaves bad balls. They are tempting, but not attempted,” he quipped, likening unaddressed claims to balls safely ignored by a skilled batsman.

Dhankhar’s remarks come amid heightened political scrutiny, reinforcing India’s independent stance in global affairs while dismissing external attempts to shape its narrative. His address underscores the government’s focus on maintaining autonomy in governance and diplomacy.
