Anuj Agnihotri, a 26-year-old doctor from Rawatbhata in Rajasthan’s Chittorgarh district, has secured the top rank in the UPSC Civil Services Examination 2025, the results of which were declared on Friday by the Union Public Service Commission. The commission announced that 958 candidates — including 659 men and 299 women — have qualified for appointment to various central civil services, marking another competitive year for one of India’s most prestigious examinations.
An alumnus of All India Institute of Medical Sciences Jodhpur, Agnihotri achieved All India Rank 1 in his third attempt. In 2023, he had earlier been selected for the Delhi, Andaman and Nicobar Islands Civil Service, which serves the Union Territories. Reflecting on his preparation journey, Agnihotri said that while there were occasional distractions during the process, he maintained a consistent study schedule of around eight to ten hours a day to stay focused on the goal.
The second position in the examination was secured by Rajeshwari Suve M, an engineering graduate from Anna University in Chennai. The third rank was obtained by Akansh Dhull, a Bachelor of Commerce graduate from University of Delhi. Meanwhile, Raghav Jhunjhunwala, who holds a BA (Hons) degree in Economics from the same university, secured the fourth rank.

The fifth position was achieved by Ishan Bhatnagar, a law graduate from National Law University Delhi. The top ranks this year reflect the diverse academic backgrounds of successful candidates, including medicine, engineering, commerce, economics, and law, highlighting the wide range of disciplines represented in India’s civil services.
The Civil Services Examination conducted annually by the Union Public Service Commission is regarded as one of the toughest competitive examinations in the country. It serves as the gateway for recruitment into prestigious administrative roles such as the Indian Administrative Service, Indian Police Service, and Indian Foreign Service, among other central government services.
Following the declaration of results, successful candidates will move to the next stage, which includes service allocation and formal training. For aspirants across India, clearing the examination represents the culmination of years of preparation and dedication, opening the door to careers in public administration and governance.
