Major rivers in Uttar Pradesh, including the Ganga, Yamuna, and Sharda, are beginning to recede but remain above danger levels, posing ongoing flood risks, according to the State Flood Management Information System. On Wednesday, the Ganga exceeded the danger mark at Kachhla Bridge (Budaun), Ghazipur, Chhatnag and Phaphamau (Prayagraj), Ballia, Mirzapur, and Varanasi. While rising at Kachhla Bridge and stable in Ghazipur, it is receding elsewhere.
The Ghagra River continues to flow above the danger mark in Ayodhya, where it is rising, and at Elgin Bridge in Barabanki, where levels are stable. The Yamuna, breaching the red mark at Naini in Prayagraj, is now receding. The Rapti River, nearing its danger level in Bhinga and Rapti Barrage (Shravasti), remains a concern. Similarly, the Sharda River in Palliakalan (Lakhimpur Kheri) is above the danger mark but starting to subside.
Authorities are closely monitoring the situation as these rivers, though receding in parts, continue to threaten communities across Uttar Pradesh with potential flooding and disruption.
