Over 17,000 people have been evacuated to safer locations after floods affected 26 districts across Uttar Pradesh, officials said. Nearly 3.53 lakh people have been impacted by the flooding, prompting the state administration to intensify rescue, relief and medical operations in affected areas. Authorities have deployed teams to provide food, essential supplies and healthcare to families facing difficult conditions due to rising floodwaters.

The affected districts include Amroha, Ayodhya, Azamgarh, Badaun, Ballia, Barabanki, Basti, Chandauli, Farrukhabad, Ghazipur, Gonda, Gorakhpur, Hardoi, Kasganj, Kanpur, Lakhimpur Kheri, Mirzapur, Moradabad, Pilibhit, Prayagraj, Rae Bareli, Rampur, Sant Kabir Nagar, Shahjahanpur, Unnao and Varanasi. The administration has been monitoring the situation in these areas while coordinating evacuation and relief measures for affected residents.

A total of 1,312 flood relief shelters have been established across the affected areas, with 4,847 people currently staying in these facilities. Relief teams have been deployed to ensure that displaced families receive food, essential commodities and medical assistance. Officials are also coordinating rescue operations and surveillance in areas where floodwaters have disrupted normal life and affected access to villages and communities.

The state has activated 1,634 flood outposts and deployed 1,697 boats and motorboats for rescue and monitoring operations. In addition, 1,068 medical teams have been mobilised to provide healthcare services in flood-affected locations. The deployment is aimed at helping authorities reach stranded residents, support evacuations and respond to medical emergencies arising from the prolonged exposure to flood conditions.

Relief supplies distributed by the administration include 72,897 food-grain kits, while more than 5,000 quintals of fodder have been provided for livestock. Health measures have also been stepped up, with over 5.52 lakh chlorine tablets and 1.87 lakh ORS packets distributed among affected communities. The measures are intended to reduce the risk of water-borne illnesses and dehydration as residents cope with contaminated water and difficult living conditions.

More than 45,000 animals have also been affected by the floods, although officials said no livestock deaths have been reported so far. The administration continues to monitor the situation and maintain relief operations across the affected districts. With thousands of people already evacuated and hundreds of relief and medical teams deployed, authorities are focusing on rescue, shelter, food distribution, healthcare and preventing further risks to communities and livestock.
