The Uttar Pradesh government has set a July 31, 2025, deadline for farmers to insure kharif crops like paddy, jowar, bajra, maize, urad, moong, tur, groundnut, soybean, and sesame under the Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana (PMFBY). Farmers can register via banks, common service centres, or www.pmfby.gov.in, with support available at the helpline 14447.
Under PMFBY, active across all 75 UP districts, farmers pay just 2% of the premium, with the Central and state governments covering the rest. The scheme protects against losses from drought, floods, storms, hailstorms, pests, diseases, and sowing failures, ensuring income stability and support for agricultural loans.
Farmers must submit Aadhaar, Khatauni, bank passbook, and crop details for registration, ensuring accuracy to avoid claim issues. Crop damage must be reported within 72 hours to the nearest insurance centre, agriculture office, or helpline for timely processing. Required documents include Aadhaar, farmer ID, and land/crop records.
