Two children sustained injuries after falling from a speeding school van in Ambernath, Thane district, when its rear door opened suddenly on Monday, police said. A viral video of the incident shows the van not stopping even after the fall.
An auto-rickshaw driver and bystanders rushed to help, stopping the van and ensuring the children received immediate medical care at a nearby hospital. The children were later discharged after treatment.
Police have detained the van driver, booking him under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Motor Vehicles Act. The incident has sparked outrage, with locals demanding strict action against negligent school van operators.
