Donald Trump said on Thursday that he would “try” to attend the upcoming wedding of his eldest son, Donald Trump Jr., but acknowledged that the ongoing conflict involving Iran could prevent him from travelling for the ceremony. The US president described the timing of the wedding as difficult amid mounting geopolitical tensions and domestic political pressure surrounding the war.
Donald Trump Jr., 48, is expected to marry Bettina Anderson this weekend in a private ceremony in the Bahamas, according to US media reports. The wedding would mark his second marriage. Speaking to reporters in the Oval Office, Trump said his son wanted him to attend but added that his schedule remained uncertain due to the international crisis and ongoing diplomatic efforts related to the Iran conflict.
“I’m going to try and make it,” Trump said while discussing the event. He added that the war and other responsibilities had complicated his plans, describing the situation as “not good timing.” Trump also joked that he would face criticism from the media regardless of whether he attended the wedding or chose to remain in Washington during the conflict.

The comments come at a politically sensitive moment for the Trump administration as the war with Iran continues without a clear resolution. The conflict has reportedly affected the president’s approval ratings and intensified criticism over rising costs linked to military operations ahead of the upcoming US midterm elections. Trump has been pushing for a diplomatic breakthrough while simultaneously facing pressure from both political allies and opponents over the direction of the conflict.
Donald Trump Jr., widely known as Don Jr., currently serves as an executive vice president at The Trump Organization and remains one of the most visible political allies of his father. He has frequently campaigned in support of the president’s “Make America Great Again” movement and is often seen accompanying Trump at public events and political appearances.
Speculation about Don Jr.’s own political future has also continued to grow in recent years. In previous interviews, he has suggested that he could consider running for president “maybe one day.” With Trump’s second and final presidential term set to end in January 2029, discussions about a future Republican successor remain active within conservative political circles.
