US President Donald Trump has claimed that Iran has agreed to allow long-term “high-level” nuclear inspections and broader concessions as part of ongoing negotiations, even as Tehran has publicly rejected such assertions and pushed back against Washington’s statements.
In a post on his social media platform Truth Social, Trump said Iran had accepted what he described as “infinite” or extended nuclear oversight, which he argued would ensure “nuclear honesty” in the future. He further claimed that the agreement would allow inspections to continue indefinitely, framing it as a major diplomatic breakthrough following months of tensions in West Asia.
Trump also stated that the United States would ease certain restrictions related to the Strait of Hormuz, a critical global oil shipping route, and permit limited financial relief under strict US-controlled conditions. According to his remarks, any sanctioned funds would be held in escrow and used exclusively for humanitarian imports such as food and medical supplies, sourced from American suppliers.

He added that US naval assets in the region would remain in position despite the easing of immediate blockade threats, saying the situation could be reversed if necessary. Trump characterised Iran’s alleged concessions as significant and suggested that broader negotiations were progressing positively, concluding his post by stating, “Talks are going well.”
However, Iranian officials have strongly contradicted these claims. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Esmaeil Baghaei said Tehran had not agreed to allow inspections of nuclear facilities damaged in recent conflicts and confirmed there were no plans to meet the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) on such terms. Iran’s UN envoy Ali Bahreini also rejected the notion of any such agreement.
The conflicting statements highlight continued diplomatic uncertainty between Washington and Tehran amid broader regional instability. While the US president has projected progress in negotiations, Iranian officials maintain that key issues, particularly around inspections and sovereignty over nuclear sites, remain unresolved.
